We recommend a consultation to ensure that you make a fully informed decision.

There are a number of reasons why men may choose to get circumcised at an adult age. Some require circumcision as a cure for conditions like phimosis (an overly tight foreskin) while others choose circumcision for cosmetic and personal reasons.
Whatever the reason for your choice to have circumcision later in life, we will be pleased to consult with you and schedule a surgery at your convenience.
With our skin glue closure method, in addition to the standard suture technique, we are able to obtain good cosmetic outcomes without the typical multiple suture track marks in the skin. Adult circumcision procedures with the Pollock Technique™ can offer good cosmetic results with limited discomfort.

Appointments are generally available within a short time and no referral is required. Men will need to book a consultation appointment before their procedure. Our experienced Gatineau doctor offers circumcision for men of all ages.
OHIP & RAMQ provide adult circumcision coverage only in cases where the procedure can be classified as medically necessary for the man after consultation with a urologist.
This means that the great majority of adult circumcisions performed at our Gatineau adult circumcision clinic are paid for directly by the patient.
You can consult with your private health insurer to determine if any coverage may be available in your case, if you have a private health plan, but even private insurance is unlikely to cover what may be deemed a “non-therapeutic” procedure.

The most common age range for adult circumcision is 18 – 40 years old, but the procedure is regularly performed on a larger age range as requested for medical and personal reasons. The morning of your circumcision we recommend that you avoid coffee and other caffeinated beverages or stimulants. It is best if you are both physically and mentally calm. Bring your headphones and listen to your favourite relaxing music on your phone or other small music player during the surgery.
Do your best to have a good sleep the night before and follow your normal breakfast routine (except for minimizing coffee) so that you will feel your normal self. Some patients find it stressful to skip coffee and if you are one of those people who really need their coffee in the morning maybe just have one cup.
The goal is to minimize your stress, so have a cup of coffee if skipping it is will cause distress. We recommend that the patient have someone come with them to drive them home as well.
The procedure itself will take about 15 minutes once the penis has been anaesthetized.
You will be kept for observation for an hour after surgery.
Follow-up is required in the following day for dressing changes and then a week later.

Or For Any Questions
Your penis may swell in the first 2 days. It is generally not very painful, and over-the-counter pain relievers are all you usually need.
You will have a dressing over the head of your penis. Please follow the doctor’s directions about when to remove it. Wear snug fitting underwear that will hold the penis upright. This will help the swelling go down.
You can return to work and your normal routine when you feel ready to. Some men return to sedentary work as soon as 2 – 3 days after circumcision. You will need to wait longer before returning to physical work.
A detailed care sheet will be provided with specific instructions to follow after your operation. The information on this page gives you a general idea about how long it will take for you to recover, but each person recovers at a different pace. Follow the care instructions to heal as fast as possible.
Dr. Slim will address your specific case and your detailed questions.
Rest when you feel tired. Getting enough sleep will help you recover fast. You may shower when you no longer have a bandage on your penis. Pat the cut (incision) dry. You may also take short baths if you wish.
Avoid strenuous activities, such as bicycle riding, jogging, weight lifting, or aerobic exercise, for 4 weeks or until your doctor says it is okay. You can return to work and normal activities, including driving, when you are comfortable doing them.
You can eat your normal diet. If your stomach is upset, try bland, low-fat foods like plain rice, broiled chicken, toast, and yogurt. Drink plenty of fluids (unless your doctor tells you not to). There is no medical reason to change from your usual meals in the days after getting circumcised. You will likely prefer to eat at home at least for the first day or two to maximize your comfort.
Remove any dressing when your doctor says it is okay. Do this by soaking it off in a warm bath. Wear underwear that is comfortable for you. After the first few days, some men continue to prefer a snug fit for support, while others prefer loose-fitting briefs. Do what feels best for you.
Put ice or a cold pack on your groin for 10 to 20 minutes at a time. Try to do this every 1 to 2 hours for the first day. Put a thin cloth between the ice and your skin. Position your penis so that your underwear keeps it upright.
Do not have intercourse or masturbate for 6 weeks, or until your doctor says it is okay. An occasional erection is not harmful as long as you leave it alone. Do not stimulate the penis.
Your doctor will tell you if and when you can restart your medications. He will also give you instructions about taking any new medications.
If you take blood thinners, or aspirin, be sure to talk to your doctor for advice on when to start taking those medications again. Make sure that you understand exactly what your doctor wants you to do in order to minimize the risk of any unexpected interactions.
Take pain medications exactly as directed. If the doctor gave you a prescription medication for pain, take it as prescribed. If you are not taking a prescription pain medication, ask your doctor if you can take an over-the-counter medication.
Do not take two or more pain medications at the same time unless the doctor told you to.
If you think your pain medicine is making you sick to your stomach:
